The economic situation in the arts is still grim, but in spite of the odds we have successfully maintained and improved programs that serve and delight the people of the North Quabbin.  The range of activities produced by the 1794 Meetinghouse is as varied as the tastes of the community, and includes:

LIKE TO SING? THE QUABBIN VALLEY PRO MUSICA WANTS YOU!

It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s open to all serious singers without an audition! Openings are available for every part; tenors and basses are especially welcome.

"PaperJam” has allowed two-time Massachusetts Poet's Seat laureate Candy Curran to help teenagers learn to put life experiences into words.  A reincarnation of the “Writing from Life Experience” program from years past, “PaperJam” has again proven wildly popular with young adults.

"Celebrating 10 years of bringing the Arts to the North Quabbin, the 1794 Meetinghouse recently completed it's most active and diverse season of performances."

The Spotlight Award is given out by the NQCC Advisory Board to an individual or group who exemplifies the mission of the Coalition by improving the quality of life for those living and working in the North Quabbin region.

Internship Program...

The 1794 Meetinghouse is in the unique position of being the ONLY performing arts organization in the North Quabbin area, thus it is natural that we include young people in our plans.

High school students face an economy that has the highest rate of teen unemployment in over 30 years. Jobs that were once filled primarily by youth are now being filled by underemployed adults.  That is one reason why it so important to offer real, meaningful, measurable work which can be performed “start to finish” to give students a sense of accomplishment and offer real world experience, critical thinking opportunities, and the ability to demonstrate job skills.   Here is a partial list of discrete and measurable jobs that can be evaluated by the schools as appropriate.

The experience is designed to enhance and demonstrate the relevance of the student's academic world to the world of work, and to establish a foundation for enabling students to make good decisions about career choices." Internships last from 6 to 20 weeks, and the student is to "complete a planned series of activities or projects designed to give a broad understanding of a business or occupational area - under the guidance and supervision of a workplace mentor."
